Recipe for bread :
3 cups all purpose flour or maida
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp melted unsalted butter
1 packet yeast ( I used rapid rise yeast)
1 1/4 warm water
Step 1 : Add 3 cups of APF/maida in a big mixing bowl, add salt, sugar, yeast, butter and water n form a soft dough.
(Please note that its a rapid rise yeast, you can directly add it to the dry ingredients. No need to proof it ! But if you are using active dry yeast, add the yeast packet to 1/4 cup warm water with 1 tsp sugar and let it sit for 5-10 mins till it froths up and then add it to the dry ingredients )
Step 2 : Dust some flour on your clean kitchen countertop and dump the dough on it . Now knead well for about 8-10 mins to develop the gluten.
Step 3: Now keep the dough in a lightly greased bowl , cover it with a damp cloth and keep it in a warm corner for about 45 mins – 1 hr. The dough should double in size.
Step 4: Now knead the dough for 5 more mins like in step 2 .
Step 5: Grease your loaf pan ( I used 9 by 5 inch) , sprinkle some flour and put the dough in . Cover it again with a damp cloth , keep it in a warm corner n let it rise again . It should rise above the loaf pan height )
Step 6: preheat the oven at 375 degrees. Brush the upper surface of the dough with butter/oil for a crusty finish and bake it for 35 – 40 mins
Step 7 : The crust will start getting brown . Insert a knife to check its cooked thru. It shud come out clean .
